Natalie's Story

"When I first came to Gilead House I was at a very low point in my life. I had just come off being on an ankle bracelet for a year. I had eight felonies and my life had not turned out how I thought it would."

"I was finally looking at life through sober eyes, everything was new, it was like being reborn and having to start all over from scratch."

Programs and Services

With so many options for your charitable dollars, why should you support Gilead House?  Our program is the reason.  We are providing a safe, nurturing, results-oriented program for our resident moms and their children.  For a nominal monthly contribution, they are living, some for the first time, in a warm, clean home in a residential neighborhood—a critical component in a family’s self image.  We are not just an inexpensive breather in the cycle of public assistance and unemployment.  Employment goals are realistically matched to prior education and experience and enhanced by job training or further schooling.  Employment and a savings account are requirements.  Each mom is paired with a mentor who encourages, listens and provides a level of support not found in any other county program.  One of the most important parts of the program is the enhancement of life skills through parenting classes, conflict resolution coaching and learning healthy methods for stress reduction. Simply, Gilead House offers an environment that enables lasting transformation by giving women the time, attention and support they need to make permanent changes.
